I am an artist and arts worker. I also happen to be a record collector who used to sing in one band, play organ in another, and have 15 years of on-and-off experience as a DJ.

As a musical outlet during the pandemic, my partner Ben and I started a radio show called Strange Notes, a deep dive into esoteric rock'n'roll and musical movements across time and space.

Our shows explore the historical and social dimensions of underground and aboveground music, from psychedelia from around the worldheavy rockpunkfolkR&B, reggae and beyond from the last few decades. Special guests on select shows share perspectives on collecting and listening to rare music, from weird and wonderful, and obscure to absurd. While you can be guarateed a great playlist each week, special narrative shows include research, as well as stories and perspectives on what makes featured artists and genres worth sharing and knowing about.

Each week, we share updates and the week’s playlist on our Instagram page.

We are proud to air Sunday nights at 6 pm Eastern Time on CFMU 93.3-FM in Hamilton, Ontario and Friday nights at 10 pm Atlantic on CHMA 106.9-FM “The Voice of the Marshes” in Sackville-Tantramar, New Brunswick. You can visit their respective websites to hear our archived shows.
